I’m thankful that my kids are good eaters. We are not short order cooks – thank goodness!!

Yesterday (day 27) was a rough day for me. There was nothing major that went wrong, just a lot of little things that weren’t quite going my way. I shed tears. I ate lots of chocolate. I was grumpy. I sat down to write this post and it just wasn’t happening, because I was grumpy. It was a bad attitude to have, but that’s where I was. As it is, I’m thankful for a husband who put up with me and supported me through my general crankiness!!
I’m also thankful for the joy my kids bring me daily. At separate points, both kids ran down a hallway to me with giant smiles on their faces, just because they saw me. That’s a seriously amazing feeling.
I’m thankful that there’s only one Monday every week 🙂 I’m also thankful for lunch dates with my husband and evenings at home, watching TV and ignoring the piles and piles of laundry.
I’m thankful for the opportunity to act like a kid with my kids and for the family that will do so as well. Last night, there were 8 adults and 3.5 kids playing hide and seek and Chloe Mae was thrilled! According to Chloe Mae, it was especially funny when someone hid in the bathtub and her favorite place to hide was in a half bathroom, with Devon and I, with the light on, while looking through a catalog. Very sneaky 🙂
I’m thankful that we made the trip home today in about 11 hours, that although we passed a couple accidents, we were kept safe (and hoping that those involved in the accidents are all okay!) and that we all get to sleep in our own beds tonight!! I love making the trip out to see family every other year for Thanksgiving, but it’s nice to get home. If only we had a couple more days off work to recover!!
I’m thankful for the opportunity to watch my children learn new things. It’s been amazing to see how much Devon’s walking skills have improved in the last few days, while he’s had several big kids to chase after (and fewer hardwood floors!) I’m also trying to committ to memory all the adorable things my kids do now that they’ll grow out of – such as Chloe’s counting when playing hide-and-seek. It goes something like this, “One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, fifteen, twenty, seventeen, thirteen, fifteen, twenty!!”
I’m thankful for the opportunity to introduce my kids to long-standing traditions. This afternoon, Chloe accompanied us to a movie after our Thanksgiving meal – an Ohio tradition for as long as I can remember.
It was Chloe’s first movie in a theater. She had lots of fun, even though she slept through most of the movie! I think her favorite part was the popcorn 🙂
I’m thankful for fantastic weather and fairly happy kids for our trip.
