Our Little “Gamers”

If you ever spend any time with my children and need to entertain them, grab a game. ¬†Pretty much any game will do. They like board games, card games, computer games (when allowed ūüôā ) and games I make up to entertain them when none of the above are available! Some of the current favorites are Uno, Sequence for Kids and Tenzi

Uno is great when we¬†want something that doesn’t require much preparation or¬†clean up. Thanks to Pinterest for inspiration, and to Dad and Grandpa for execution, the kids now have card holders. When the games get intense and the kids have more than a dozen cards,¬†it’s a lot easier for¬†everyone¬†when the cards are propped¬†up in front of them.

¬†¬†Sequence usually requires a little more time, but the kids love it. They will happily¬†play pretty¬†much any time – first thing In the morning, right before bed, outside or in costume. D is still working on the strategy of this game, but C has it down. Seriously, if you play with¬†her, don’t go easy on her.

For a while, the kids played these games¬†pretty much exclusively. And obsessively. So for Easter they got Guess Who and Trouble. That added a little variety to our game playing, but¬†neither was a new favorite. Then they spent some time at Grandma and Grandpa’s house and were introduced to the dice game Tenzi.

The concept is simple. Each player has a set of 10 dice. You all start¬†rolling at the same time and try to be the first one to get all 10 of your dice with the same number. Whoever gets all 10 first yells “Tenzi!!”¬† Luckily, C had a birthday and received her very own set of dice for Tenzi.

The good news for me is that I much prefer these games to more traditional kids games, such as Candyland or Chutes and Ladders. What are your favorite games to play with your kiddos?
